She received a Master of Science in Evolutionary and Comparative Psychology in 2009 from the University of St Andrews, and a Master of Arts in Forensic and Counseling Psychology in 2013 from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
Throughout her counseling experience, Sara has served clients in corrections, hospitals and private practice settings on a range of mental health concerns. Sara has worked with adults who experience symptoms of severe mental illness, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse/addiction, adjustment disorders and self-esteem/self-perception concerns. Sara has a special interest in working with women who experience distress as a result of infertility, postpartum depression/anxiety, and grief. As a counselor, her primary style is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which focuses on helping you understand how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interwoven. For new clients, Sara understands how scary counseling can seem, but with a calming, empathetic demeanor, she will work to build a genuine relationship with you in order to provide a safe space for self-discovery. Through this work, you will gain more education regarding your symptoms and will begin to understand yourself with greater clarity.
Outside of work, Sara enjoys spending time with her husband and stepson. They are an active family who are always looking for fun, new family experiences! She’s also an avid animal lover who enjoys hanging with her dog and two cats. Sara believes our pets can teach us a lot about being grateful, being present, and most importantly, being relaxed!
